American, Sylvester Howard Roper invented a two-cylinder, steam-engine motorcycle which was powered by coal in 1867. Then twenty years later, Gottlieb Daimler, German, invented the first gas-engine motorcycle in 1885, which was an engine attached to a wooden bike. That marked the moment in history when the dual development of a viable gas-powered engine and the modern bicycle collided.
Since then people from around the world, including Santa Claus, has been fascinated with the power of a two wheeled mode of transportation. Santa rides the highways and back roads of the United States during the summer months, enjoying all of nature.
